Walmart protest in LA

On June 30th, 2012 thousands of people marched through Chinatown in Los Angeles, California; protesting to urge Wal-Mart to stop invading Los Angeles, respect workers, and to say "No" to Low Wage jobs which diminish local businesses.

Some may wonder how this protest against Wal-Mart in LA ties in to the proposition Raise the Wage in San Jose. As one can see, cities all around the United States are fighting back, practicing real democracy, standing up to big corporations like Wal-Mart and asking businesses to pay a higher wage. 

As mentioned in an earlier posting on this blog, we stand for the bigger picture also. It's not simply about raising our wage in San Jose it's about stepping forward in ending a cycle which we have allowed to take control over our lifestyles, views, feelings, and over all our rights.

If the proposition for Raise the Wage in San Jose goes through on November 6th of this year; 44 thousand people the first month of 2013 will be impacted.  If it goes through, 80 thousand people will be impacted in 2013. 

San Jose is taking a stance. If we can do it here, other cities will manage to do so also.

We must prove to other cities that our power is still strong, and that united we can accomplish our goals.

Living Wage San Jose!
